St Peter's Church, St Peter's Close, Bethnal Green E2 - Tower Hamlets

St Peter with St Thomas was designed by Lewis Vulliamy and completed in 1841 in a neo-Norman style. Vestries were added to the east end in early C20. The church is built of flint facework on brick cores with dressings in Bath stone and terracotta. Services are being held in a marquee in the churchyard while funds are raised to replace the ceiling panels. These have decayed and fallen, causing asbestos contamination. Trees in the churchyard are damaging the railings. The church is actively engaged with raising funds to deal with the asbestos problem.
