Church of St Michael and All Angels, Plumpton - South Downs (NP)

Small parish church with large square tower to the west. Dates to the C12 with a C13 chancel and contains rare surviving Norman wall paintings. The lack of an eaves gutters to the tower, combined with inappropriate cement renders in several areas, and ground drainage, is causing internal damp and putting the wall paintings at risk. A programme of repairs was undertaken with a Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund grant, which was awarded in 2015. There are plans to re-order the church for use in the week by the adjoining Plumpton College. The church will also continue to hold services.
