Barn at Rook Hall, Eye - Mid Suffolk

Well preserved C16 5-bay timber framed threshing barn with double queen post roof in local vernacular tradition, now clad in timber weatherboarding. Historic England Repair Grant awarded towards emergency temporary works to stabilise the structure in 2018. Subsequent site inspection revealed that N wall sole plate is structurally discontinuous and brick plinth in a state of partial collapse, barn structure twisted in places and jointing in poor condition. HE funded a historic building survey which confirmed historic significance. Owner in discussion with Historic England.
