Northern block and courtyard walls of Alice Billings House, Stratford E15 - Newham

A block of firemen's accommodation built for the West Ham Fire Brigade c1905-06; a rare example of the incorporation of a practice hose/drying tower separate from the fire station building. It has been vacant and deteriorating since the 1980s. Funding was awarded through Newham Council's Active Spaces programme in 2021 to Creative Land Trust to convert the building into studios to be let at affordable rents to creatives, with teaching areas and a community café, with further funding from the Levelling Up Fund. Detailed plans for the project are now in development.
