Church of St James, London Road, Shardlow and Great Wilne - South Derbyshire
Parish church,1846, by H I Stevens. The tower has a history of structural movement and, by 2016, there were concerns about numerous cracks to the upper stages and parapet. There is a long history of iron cramp damage generally with some previous repairs having failed; rainwater disposal was problematic and there were localised roof defects. A repair project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund completed in late 2019 but not all necessary repairs were affordable. Recipient of an Historic England Covid 19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund grant in 2020 for further repairs.
