Steamer Street Tenements, 2-12 Steamer Street and 1-13 Island Road - Westmorland and Furness Council (UA)

Tenement block dating from 1881-84, designed by the regionally important architectural practice of Paley and Austin and built to house workers of the Barrow Island Shipbuilding Co. The condition of the property has been deteriorating for a number of years and urgent works are now required, particularly to the roof. Repairs are also needed to rainwater goods, chimneys and brickwork. Some repairs to windows and drains have taken place, and a prioritised list of repairs is being prepared.
