Colonnade by Lake to south of Heaton Hall, Heaton Park - Manchester

Former entrance portico of Manchester Town Hall when located on King Street. Built in sandstone in a neo-Classical style with four giant Ionic columns. The vulnerable condition stems from movement of the high-level pediment stones, failure of roofs, and heavy delamination of the stone face due to saturation and cement pointing. In addition, the statues within the coved niches are also deteriorating. The Council has erected a perimeter fence to secure the structure and gained consent for repair works in 2019, with the main works yet to be undertaken.
