Church of the Ark of the Covenant, Rookwood Road, Stoke Newington N16 - Hackney

The church, located at the north end of Clapton Common in Hackney, was designed by Joseph Morris and Sons for the Agapemonite Church and finished in 1895. Carvings on the west tower were by A G Walker, and the window glass was designed by Walter Crane. The building passed to the Catholic Church 1956 -2007, and then to the Georgians. External elevations are in squared rubble ragstone; at some time hard cement pointing has led to stone decay. The plain clay roof tiles are slipping off and have caused plaster falls in the nave.
