Restoration, Goodwin Sands - Kent (off)
Although there is no definite evidence, this wreck of a wooden warship is thought to be the remains of the Restoration, a Third Rate 70-gun warship built 1678 as part of Samuel Pepys’ regeneration of the English navy. Along with the Northumberland and Stirling Castle, she foundered on Goodwin Sands during the ‘Great Storm’ of 1703.Site currently at its most exposed. Historic England funded project undertaken 2021 to record site and work continues.
