Brookwood Cemetery, Brookwood - Woking

An immense active commercial garden cemetery with its own railway opened in 1852 for London's dead. Inspired by international burial and mourning practices; multi-denominational and multinational spaces, tombs, chapels and monuments, social organisation grounds, C20 military and woodland sections heighten its significance. Acquired by the Local Authority after longterm neglect, investment resumed. With constrained public finances, planning specialist input is required to manage the significance, treescape, habitats, monuments and communal biographies as part of a commercial enterprise.
