Bearwood College, Arborfield and Newland / Barkham / Winnersh - Wokingham (UA)

This C19 landscaped park and woodland surrounds an imposing Victorian country house on formal terraces overlooking a picturesque lake with design by William Sawrey Gilpin and Pulham. The house and gardens are owned by a private school and a charitable trust, whereas the wider park is now adapted as a golf course and Reading FC's new training site. A Conservation Management Plan process and liaison group is being developed to include proposals to restore lost vistas and the Pulhamite garden. Historic England is advising on how these initiatives and proposals can be taken forward.
