Abbey Church of St Mary, St Sansom and St Branwalader, Milton Abbas - North Dorset

Formerly church of a Benedictine abbey now used as a school chapel. Mainly C14, upper part of tower and north transept C15. Restored c1790 by J Wyatt and 1865 by Sir Gilbert Scott. Walls of stone and flint with ashlar dressings. Nave and aisles not rebuilt after fire in C14. Repairs to roofs, windows and drainage carried out in 2016 with Viridor funding. Further grant from Viridor has enabled the completion of works to the floors. A Heritage Lottery Fund 'Great Stare Project' grant has been offered to carry out remaining urgent high level repairs. Work is due to start by the end of 2018.
