Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne - Bracknell Forest (UA)

A mid-C19 asylum designed by Joshua Jebb with rare survival of large kitchen garden as the focus for therapeutic work. Its cascading walled gardens and institutional farm are highly significant. With considerable harm to significance from the new hospital development the remaining hospital complex and ornamented farmland is vulnerable to allocated development proposals. An updated historic landscape appraisal should inform a Conservation Management Plan required by the local plan and close liaison is welcomed to minimise further harm, enhance significance and restore landscape features.
