Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne - Bracknell Forest (UA)

A mid-C19 asylum built to designs by Joshua Jebb with extensive contemporary grounds. Sited on a ridge, formal terraces descend to kitchen gardens and farm estate below. The ornamented farmland has survived with some loss of historic character. Major redevelopment of the hospital completed in 2019 with plans to sell the original building and other features like the walled garden for commercial and residential uses are ongoing in 2020. Close liaison with the owner and Local Authority is necessary to restore a conservationm management approach to reduce rapid loss of historic design integrity.
