Lavington Park, Duncton / East Lavington, Chichester - Chichester
Late C18 and C19 garden at the foot of the South Downs on the site of a late C16 house and garden set within a park of C18 origin, largely planted in the C19 and further altered in the C20. The house, with extensive panoramic views northwards, is now a school. School buildings, sports pitches and enabling development within the park has eroded the park’s historic character and designed landscape intentions. A heritage-led estate plan was discussed with The South Downs NPA in 2017 to improve conservation management as the significance of the site is vulnerable to further development.
