Swaylands, Bidborough / Penshurst - Sevenoaks / Tunbridge Wells

A small landscape park with terraced gardens and pleasure grounds, including extensive rockwork with ornamental features and specimen trees developed in the late C19. After use as a school the house was converted into apartments with enabling development permitted in the park and the main rockery has been restored. Funded proposals for maintenance and management of the lower lake and its rockwork bank have been agreed as part of ongoing development. Future coordinated programmes of work could further reduce the threat of loss of historic design integrity.
