Swaylands, Bidborough / Penshurst - Sevenoaks / Tunbridge Wells

Small landscape park with terraced gardens and pleasure grounds, including extensive rockwork developed in the late C19. Now split into several ownerships with the house converted into apartments, development of residential facilities is fragmenting the park and inappropriate forms of management may precipitate loss of historic design integrity. Understanding the presentation of the lower lake and kitchen garden as part of the parkland landscape, which are in separate ownership, much neglected and subject to change through development, is also imperitive to ensure appropriate stewardship.
