Church of St Swithun, Church Street, Long Bennington - South Kesteven

Located on the site of the former priory, a large parish church dating from early C13, with C14, (aisles constructed) C15, and C19 work, restored 1902-3 by Scorer and Gamble Architects, (ceilings in nave and aisles assumed from this date). The church north aisle has suffered from structural movement related to poor rainwater disposal arrangements and ground drainage affecting the bearing strata. A National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant for Places of Worship grant, to address the chancel roof and drainage, was completed in 2019. The church is drying out but a further phase of repairs is required.
