Blake's Cottage, Blake's Road, Felpham - Arun
Thatched brick and flint cottage dating from C17 with later alterations and extensions. Home of the poet, artist and visionary William Blake where he wrote the words to the hymn 'Jerusalem'. At risk due to decay and failure of part of the roof structure and thatch, and structural problems to the masonry. Purchased by The Blake Cottage Trust in 2015. A temporary roof covering now installed. Architectural Heritage Fund grant funding secured for audience development. Project development continues. Historic England has published a botanical report on the thatch roof.
