Hedingham Castle, Castle Hedingham - Braintree
Hedingham Castle keep, built in the twelfth century and once one of the mightiest most famous castles in East Anglia. Now ranks among the most important Norman buildings in England. It is one of the best preserved and least altered Norman tower keeps in England. Strong association to the de Veres, Earls of Oxford. Some of the rough racking to wall tops is in poor condition causing water leakage into the wall tops which is causing dampness internally. Preliminary investigations undertaken. Owners in discussion with Historic England regarding possible funding options.
