The Long Shop, Main Street, Leiston - East Suffolk

The Long Shop, built in1853 for the manufacture of portable steam engines, is now a museum. Red brick with yellow brick dressings; pan tiled roof with three louvered ventilators at ridge level. Two storeys, nine bays long and three bays wide. Pan tiled roof is in need of re-covering; 1970s glazed roof lights leak and require replacing; rainwater disposal arrangements requires overhaul and repair. A National Lottery Heritage Fund grant has been awarded. Historic England Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk grant offered in 2018 as part of funding package. Still seeking funding for delivery stage.
