The Long Shop, Main Street, Leiston - Suffolk Coastal

The Long Shop, built in1853 for the manufacture of portable steam engines, is now a musuem. Red brick with yellow brick dressings; pan tiled roof with three louvered ventilators at ridge level. Two storeys, nine bays long and three bays wide. Pan tiled roof is in need of re-covering; 1970s glazed roof lights leak and require replacing; rainwater disposal arrangements in need of overhaul and repair. Stage 1 Heritage Lottery Fund grant awarded. A Historic England Heritage at Risk Repair Grant offered 2018 as part of the funding package.
