Thorrington Tide Mill and attached Dam Wall to north West, Mill Lane, Thorrington - Tendring

Thorrington Tide Mill stands sentinel in the Essex salt marshes between the end of Alresford Creek and the Mills pond, now filled by the Tenpenny brook. There has been a mill on this site for many centuries, the current structure dates from 1831. In 1974 the mill was acquired by Essex County Council. The Council restored the mill to working order in 1990, and opened it to the public in 1993. There is evidence of rot in the wheel pit and leakage of water close by. Development grant to fund survey and investigation in progress.
