Remains of Sibton Abbey, Sibton - East Suffolk
Remains of a Cistercian abbey built in 1150. A Countryside Stewardship agreement enabled the abbey meadow to be brought into appropriate management and part funded repair and consolidation of the bridge in 2018/19. A first phase of work focussed on the monks’ refectory was completed in June 2019 with further support from the owners and Historic England through a Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk grant. A second phase of work focussing on remaining structures of the south range of the cloister was completed in 2021. A final phase of works focussed on the north and west ranges is anticipated.
