Remains of Roman wall, Horncastle - East Lindsey
Roman curtain wall, late C3 to mid C4, which survives as both standing masonry and as buried remains in various ownerships. One visible section has been incorporated into Horncastle Library. The condition of each section of the monument varies, but uncontrolled vegetation growth and weathering threatens several of the exposed sections. Historic England grant-aided repairs of the southwest corner of the wall circuit completed in 2022. There have been some premature mortar failures; remedial work is planned for 2024.
