Backbarrow Ironworks, Haverthwaite, South Lakeland - Lake District (NP)

The surviving structures of Backbarrow Ironworks represent the best illustration nationally of iron-smelting technology development from the early C18 to the C20. The scheduled monument is being repaired as part of a Section 106 agreement for development of part of the site for residential units. Repairs are nearing completion.
