Ravensworth Castle, Cross Lane, Lamesley - Gateshead

Medieval castle of which two C14 corner towers and part of its curtain wall survive in poor condition, as well as associated archaeological deposits. Urgent repairs were completed by the owners in 2015 following a condition survey commissioned by the Local Authority using Historic England grant-aid. A detailed repair scheme for the medieval castle remains has been prepared, and contractors appointed by the owners to implement this. This work will be phased over 5 years, and is due to start in 2018.
