Garden Temple in garden of Temple House, 14, The Avenue, Wanstead E11 - Redbridge

Garden temple, circa 1730-40, with Ionic pedimented portico. The structure once formed part of the Wanstead Grove Estate. Extensive repairs to the roof and one of the columns have been carried out, grant-aided by Historic England. Further repairs are needed to the remaining columns, which are showing signs of significant decay, as well as the decorative finishes. Structural and condition surveys were prepared in 2016 to inform these repairs, with funding from Historic England. The Local Authority and Historic England are jointly considering options to secure full repair of the structure.
