Two brick barns and garden walls to south of Bretons House, Rainham Road, Hornchurch - Havering
Two Tudor barns set around a cobbled courtyard close to the C16 garden walls, all associated with Bretons House. One barn is watertight and in use although deteriorating, with some earlier unsympathetic alterations. The other barn requires urgent repair, particularly to the roof and walls. The garden walls also require extensive repair, although sections have been robustly propped. Plans for the wider site are being developed and Historic England is working with the Local Authority to identify the most appropriate strategy towards funding and re-use.
