Old Grandstand, Richmond - North Yorkshire Council (UA)
A rare example of a C18 racecourse grandstand, built in 1776, probably to the design of Carr of York. The racecourse was closed in 1891. The Grandstand became derelict after WWII. It was partially demolished in 1970. Ruins cleared and stonework sorted 1989. The Racecourse is now a conservation area. A feasibility study has recently been produced for the owners and further work is proposed.
