Winter Garden of former Avery Hill Training College, Bexley Road, Eltham SE9 - Greenwich

Large conservatory built in 1889 in a classical style, with domed glass roofs and surmounted by a figure of Mercury. The wider site has been sold for new educational use. The building was deteriorating due to blocked rainwater goods and lack of maintenance. The owner has now carried out urgent works and comprehensive roof repairs to improve the building's condition and ensure it is watertight. Joinery repairs to all three glasshouses are now complete and lead to the main dome has been completely replaced. Discussions are continuing to secure the future management and use of the building.
