Grand Magazine, Waltham Abbey Royal Gunpowder Mills, Waltham Abbey - Epping Forest

C19 rectangular, barrel-vaulted brick structure with a smaller barrel-vaulted west 'transept'. Masonry has collapsed and there is extensive vegetation growth. Cracking is evident throughout the structure, with flattening to the head of the vault and extensive moisture ingress. A programme of tree clearance around the structure has been completed and repair proposals should be addressed once the future management of the site is clarified.
