Railings, Thornhill Square N1 - Islington
Cast iron railings, circa 1852, to the perimeter of the central garden square, with foliated spear-head finials set in a moulded plinth on brickwork. Parts of the railings are misaligned, degraded and cracked, with missing elements. Historic England part-funded pilot repairs in 2010, and a specialist measured survey and costed condition survey in 2017. In 2018 a project to repair the enclosed gardens was not able to proceed after funding was withdrawn. Interested parties are in discussion with the Local Authority about possible approaches to secure the necessary repairs.
