Mausoleum of Sir Joseph William Bazalgette, St Mary's Churchyard, St Mary's Road, Wimbledon SW19 - Merton
Portland stone mausoleum from the end of the C19. Bazalgette was the designer of the main London trunk sewer system and the builder of the Victoria and Albert Embankments in the 1860s. The ironwork requires repair and the gates are missing. Water ingress is causing gradual collapse of the internal brickwork to the roof. Charity Habitats & Heritage and the church are exploring possibilities for developing a project and seeking funding to enable the necessary works to be carried out.
