Polegate Windmill, Park Croft, Willingdon and Jevington - Wealden

Four-storey, brick tower windmill dating to 1817 for milling oats. The original machinery was restored in 1967. At risk due to water ingress from the cap and tower walls causing concerning deterioration of the substantial timber beams on all floors which support the mill stones and internal mechanism. As a result the beams are propped. Evidence of rot throughout the tower. Gallery also requires repair and the ground floor external bitumen coating is contributing to damp conditions. A comprehensive condition survey is required and improved weathertightness is a priority.
