Checklist for Website Contributors

Once you've written your text and gathered your images, it's time to work up all the other elements needed for your page.

Allow plenty of time for this. These page elements are vital for making your page accessible and for helping visitors to the website find what they're looking for.

With your text

  • Page title and subheadings
  • Summary and description 
  • Link text and URLs (link text must be either descriptive or a call to action, never ‘click here’)
  • List of pages on this website that might be ‘also of interest’ to your reader
  • Any ‘next steps’ that your readers might want to take, with the URL to link to

With each image

  • Descriptive filename
  • Caption
  • Alt text (or text versions of charts or infographics)
  • Copyright or attribution
