Church of St Nicholas, Church Plain, Wells-Next-the-Sea - North Norfolk
Large parish church located within the town. Originally of C15 date but burnt down in1879 and rebuilt. The building is well maintained and used for both worship and community activities. A detailed inspection of the tower revealed that the parapet is loose and suffering from the effects of decaying and expanding iron cramps. There are also loose areas of face work and cracks which require attention. The turret stair is cracking. South aisle roof is in poor condition. National Lottery Heritage Fund delivery grant received in 2021. Works due to complete summer 2024.
