Charlton House, Charlton Road SE7 - Greenwich

Jacobean mansion built early C17 for Sir Adam Newton with later additions for Sir William Ducie. Built to an H-shaped plan with three storeys, much internal historic fabric survives such as staircases, panelled rooms, ornamental ceilings and chimney pieces. Run for public benefit by the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust, it offers a cafe, events, private hire and exhibitions. Part of the extensive roof is in very bad condition, with water ingress leading to damage to the historic interiors. Services require upgrading. The Trust is working with Historic England to secure funding.
