Number 2 Gasholder, Former Fulham Gas Works, Imperial Road SW6 - Hammersmith and Fulham

Gasholder dating from 1830, and considered to be the oldest surviving gasholder in the world. It consists of a single lift wrought iron holder, with cast iron guide standards in tripod form and wrought iron framework. The Gas Works site has been decommissioned. Outline Planning Permission for redevelopment has been obtained, with a S106 Agreement to secure protective and investigatory works. Preliminary works are underway, and the results will help inform the future restoration and re-purposing of the gasholder on site in consultation with the developer, Local Authority and Historic England.
