Ruston, Upper Sunbury Road - Richmond upon Thames
Water treatment works designed by engineer Joseph Quick for the Southwark and Vauxhall Water Company. Originally built as a single-storey Gault brick building, a later two-storey western block was added in 1881-82 by JW, later Sir James Restler. Both have cast-iron glazing bars throughout and stone balustrading. The building has been vacant and derelict for over a decade, with extensive woody vegetation threatening the stonework. The Local Authority and Historic England are in pre-application discussions with the owners regarding conversion into residential and office accommodation.
