Briggens, Roydon / Stanstead Abbots / Hunsdon - East Hertfordshire / Epping Forest
Early C18 landscape park retaining features designed by Charles Bridgeman c1720, and focussed on a C18 and later country house set within early C20 Edwardian pleasure grounds designed by Lord Hunsdon. The site is in divided ownership with the majority of the parkland in use as a golf course until recently. Built structures are unoccupied and multiple key features are in very poor condition, including Bridgeman’s formal water bodies, the arboretum, pleasure ground shrubberies, the C18 walled garden, the avenue along the C19 Roydon drive, and the C19 and early C20 entrance lodges.
