Stanmer Park, Ditchling / Falmer / Westmeston, Brighton and Hove, City of (UA), Lewes - South Downs (NP) / Brighton and Hove, City of (UA) / Lewes

Undulating C18 downland landscape park and agricultural estate of a country house and its estate village, bought by the Council for public amenity in 1947. Now on the city fringe, the A27 cuts through the park with development pressure in the park and prominent views. Following successful improvements to the parkland core an award-winning Management and Maintenance Plan and City Downland Estate Plan envisions Stanmer as a gateway to the heart of the South Downs with an ambitious carbon target.
