Pedestrian Subway under Crystal Palace Parade, Crystal Palace SE19 - Bromley

The Subway was designed by Charles Barry Jr, opening in 1865 and providing a direct link from his High-Level Station (demolished 1961) into the Crystal Palace via a ticketing hall and the spectacular diaper brickwork of the subway vaulting. Greater London Authority's Strategic Investment Pot and Historic England, with support from the Friends of Crystal Palace Subway, have funded an extensive repair project, including a new roof for the ticketing hall and major structural and access improvements. Works completed in spring 2024. A further phase of repairs is required to the vaulted section.
