Church of Our Lady and St Columba, Wallsend - North Tyneside
Church built in 1957 from designs by Vincente Stienlet in Modern Perpendicular Gothic style, with Scandinavian and Art Deco elements. Reordering by Vincente Stienlet (the younger) in 1968 and 1990. A detailed structural survey has identified widespread failure of the copper covered roofs and parapet gutter linings. These defects are allowing high level water ingress which has caused corrosion of the steel frame and cracks along the narrow square brick pilasters. Funding options are being explored to deliver a comprehensive programme of repairs.
