Historic England North Listing Team

We are one of the Listing Group's four territory teams, providing recommendations to the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) on Listed Buildings, Scheduled Monuments and Protected Wrecks. We also maintain the Register of Parks & Gardens and Register of Battlefields; these five designations form the National Heritage List for England (NHLE). Our casework is partly responsive (we receive about 250 external applications a year) and partly directed by the Listing Group`s strategic programme. As well as new designations, we re-assess existing list entries to review their extent, grade or description. We also deal with de-designation and applications for Certificates of Immunity from Listing (COIs). We also provide paid-for Enhanced Advisory Services (EAS) for fast-track listing, listing enhancement and a screening service.
