Abbey Hall, Torquay, Torbay

This hall was originally a school. The school was opened on 28 April 1853 as a 'British School'. It was set up by the Nonconformists, for boys and infants. It was apparently conducted by "managers in premises adjoining". At this time there was no formal state education system.
