Belvidere Terrace, Esplanade, Weymouth, Dorset

This terrace of 16 houses overlooking the beach was begun in 1818 and completed in 1855. Georgian and Regency terraces were designed to have regular, symmetrical frontages. This appearance has been generally well retained in this case with only one shop front intruding. The railings and balconies are still in place. This style is sometimes known as Seaside Regency and is common on promenades in many seaside towns.
