Bunker, Westoe Colliery, South Shields, Tyne and Wear
Originally an auxiliary shaft to the nearby St Hilda Colliery, Westoe became a separate colliery in 1940 when St Hilda's closed. It was further extended in 1957. Here the surface workings at the top of the shaft are pictured.
