Castle Arch and Walls, Guildford, Surrey
In c1630 a house was built in to AN earlier, 13th century, gatehouse. The gatehouse belonged to Guildford Castle. The house was built for Francis Carter, or possibly his son. They also bought and altered the keep at Guildford Castle. Then tried to convert it into a house.
