This is a Roman gaming board with dice and counters. The board is made of stone and marked out in squares. It is likely that it would have been used for a game like draughts. The counters and dice are made of carved bone and pottery. The orange coloured ones are made from fragments of a type of imported Roman pottery known as Samian ware. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010). Find out more.
