Court 4, Coronation Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire

These houses date back to Georgian times. Street plans sometimes provided little room between blocks of houses resulting in a number of courtyards. These shared spaces provided room for dustbins and washing lines, but more importantly helped create a sense of community between the people whose houses opened onto them.
