Dry Dock, Little Braunston, Northamptonshire

This building is on the Grand Union Canal. It was built in the mid 19th century as a place for canal boats to be repaired. The Grand Union Canal was formed in 1929. It is made up of several earlier canal systems. This dry dock was part of the Grand Junction Canal. It had been built in 1793-1805. It ran from Braunston in Northamptonshire to the Thames at Brentford (London). It made it quicker to transport goods from the Midlands to London.
