Eastleigh Railway Station, Eastleigh, Hampshire

This station was built in 1839-40. It is built in a simple Italianate style. In 1842 it became known as Bishopstoke Junction when a new line to Gosport and Portsmouth was opened. The towns growth was linked to the building of railway carriages and engine workshops. It became a village of railway workers.
